From wholesome valleys to the rarefied air of the highest highway, the K.K.H passes through kaleidoscopic scenery. The landscape changes almost after every mile and cannot be described merely in words. A drive along the highway is an extraordinary life experience nobody can forget after going through just once. It is also an opportunity to meet modern day traders and even taste unique herbal medicine that soothes the body from the cold.

After a long interval of centuries, Pakistan and China agreed in 1966 to construct this highway for mutual benefit. Although the highway does not follow exactly the old Silk route, it can be said to have revived its spirit. The Silk Route once connected famous landmarks, some of which still exist.
