Naltar valley, a striking green hill station situated on north – west of Gilgit, hidden in surrounding mountains, due to receiving more rainfall than other valleys, it has lush forest of cedar, pine and juniper. Beside a unique colored lake enhance the charm of valley and is an ideal place for camping.
This trek involves walking through flowery meadows, lakes and spectacular greenery. It is therefore offers something more diverse in terms of landscape and has more than the usual share of scenic beauty without being too physically demanding. A daily average of 4-5 hours walk along the river and meadows passing by and meeting with families of semi nomadic shepherds taking us to Lower Shanni campsite, offers stunning view of meadows and snow capped mountains and up to the Pakora Pass. Three hours inclined walk through meadows to the Pakora Pass high camp which looks back on the Naltar Valley forests and peaks. At the top of pass, the snow remains even in midsummer and the views stretch down to the Pakora glacier which stretches down the valley.
